Toenail Fungus, or Onychomycosis is a fungal infection of the nail that can occur in fingernails or toenails. The most common symptom of a fungal nail infection is the nail becoming thickened and discoloured: white, black, yellow or green. As the infection progresses the nail can become brittle, with pieces breaking off or coming away from the toe or finger completely. If left untreated, the skin can become inflamed and painful underneath and around the nail.

How it works

The laser is continuously  moved over the nail area until the nail is heated up enough to kill the active fungus spores. The treatment typically requires four short sessions. Healthy new nail typically appears after about three months, while it can take up to a year for the entire clear nail to emerge. The laser treatment would not usually cause your toenails to discolour or fall off and you can resume your activities without any downtime.

Before Treatment

Please make sure your feet are clean.

Remove all nail polish the day before the procedure.

If the nail surface is thick it will need to be filed down to resemble the thickness of a healthy nail.

Prepare sanitized footwear and a few sanitized areas of your home ahead of time.

After Treatment

Following the procedure your nails may feel warm for a few minutes.

The majority of patients can resume normal activities immediately.

Bring an extra pair of sanitized shoes and socks to each appointment.
